Regional association of economic developers announces new research plan with a webinar on January 16th from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
The Northeastern Economic Developers Association just commissioned a research project that includes new initiatives for the northeast region written by Immediate-past president Karl Seidman and Evan Tencer. The companion 3-part webinar series, which begins Thursday, January 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, will cover timely information on how Northeastern state governments have taken important steps to strengthen the foundations and performance of their economies from 2011 through mid-2013.
“The research paper and webinar series are part of NEDA’s continuing effort to bring relevant and useful economic development content to our membership in the Northeastern United States,” said James Keib, Executive Director of the Northeastern Economic Developers Association.
The research paper includes State Industry and Cluster Initiatives for states and localities to help strengthen their competitiveness while encouraging and helping to foster the growth of emerging ones.
The January webinar is the first of a three-part series, titled, State Industry and Cluster Initiatives and will feature the following three speakers: Eric Nakajima, speaking about Massachusetts’ multi-pronged Advanced Manufacturing Initiative aimed at growing the state’s manufacturing economy; Tina Kasim, describing how New Hampshire organized a consortium of defense and aerospace firms to grow the cluster through expanding exports; and Lars Torres, speaking on how Vermont’s Office of the Creative Economy is advancing the creative economy in the state.
The webinar will be presented on ThinkManagement software. Registration is free for Northeastern Economic Developers Association members and $25 for non-members. For more information on NEDA and to register for the webinar series visit http://nedaonline.org
